In continuation of the workshop based on Differentiated Learning conducted by Ms. Carolyn Coil and attended by our teachers at Sanskriti School, an in-house training session was conducted on Thursday, 31st March,2016 by Ms. Malobika Mukherjee, Ms. Vibhu Gupta, Ms. Amita Prasad and Ms. Parul Daveshwar for the teachers of classes VI-XII.

The teachers introduced the concept of differentiated learning and the correct approach towards it so as to impart holistic education to all the students. For this Howard Gardener’s theory of Multiple Intelligence was focused upon and the various learning profiles were revisited with Coil’s Horizontal and Vertical Differentiation Model. The teachers explained the different approaches that can be adopted for the students using different levels of understanding. This could be done using the 4C’s i.e Communication, Collaboration, Creativity and Critical Thinking. For this teachers can introduce and conduct student-choice activities and evaluate them to suit the needs of all and bring out the best in them.

The workshop concluded with an activity wherein the teachers were grouped according to their subjects. Each group of teachers prepared a list of activities using the Coil’s Tic-Tac-Toe grid based on 9 learning preferences.
