MUN 2016

Lotus Valley International School, Noida hosted its first Model United Nations Conference, ‘Acta Non Verba’ on 16th and 17th November 2016.

The opening ceremony commenced with a melodious rendition of the song ‘Man in the Mirror’, truly apt for the occasion. This was followed by the welcome address of Dr. Ruchi Seth, Principal LVIS, Noida. She spoke passionately about the importance of Model United Nations and the role of our children in building a harmonious society. Subsequently, the students enthralled the audience with a traditional dance performance - an amalgamation of three classical dances- Odissi, Bharatnatyam and Kathak. The Secretary General, Aditya Bhamu welcomed all delegates and guests in addition to introducing the committee Chairpersons. The conference was finally declared open by the Chief Guest, Mr. Ashok Pandey, Principal of Ahlcon International School, Delhi.

After the enchanting opening ceremony, the MUN moved on to the proceedings of the committees with delegates who had been preparing for the MUN with tremendous zeal and enthusiasm. The delegates gained in depth insight into the functioning of the United Nations and dynamics of international relations.

With over 12 schools participating in this highly competitive conference from Delhi/NCR, the first day of the conference saw a wide variety of motions being raised for debates such as – South China Sea, Human Rights Violation in the Middle East, Mossad, and Election Reforms etc. Young and bright minds expressed their views eloquently and raised important questions with confidence.

The closing note was delivered by Dr. Vikram Dutt, Professor and Mentor in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Delhi Metropolitan Education. The two days conference witnessed the highest level of deliberation and debate by the well researched, enthusiastic delegates on various global issues. The conference culminated with the prize distribution ceremony wherein delegates were recognized for their exemplary performance in different committees. DPS Indirapuram won the Best School Delegation Trophy for the event. The Head Girl, Bhavya Jha proposed the Vote of thanks.
