Special Assembly on World Development Information Day

EVENT: Special Assembly on World Development Information Day

DAY AND DATE: Tuesday, 24th October, 2017

VENUE: Amphitheatre, C- Block

The school resumed after Diwali Break with a special assembly on 24th October, 2017 presented by the students of VIII Exbury and Shalimar on the occasion of World Development Information Day. The assembly began with a short but powerful and informative video presentation that detailed the importance of awareness as the first step to action.

Also included were an interview with “Malala Yousafzai”, the youth icon about the youth’s role in bringing about positive societal change; a dramatic court case filed by the youth of today against the adults who have ravaged earth’s natural resources; a menacing conversation among the ghosts of the earth’s past, present and future, and a ballet, all centred around the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, the maintainance of a balance between natural and human resources.

The assembly befittingly concluded with a pledge of socio- civic responsibility and the message that “ We haven’t inherited the earth from our parents; we have only borrowed it from our children”
