Diwali Celebrations Classes I and II

From darkness to the light that empowers us to commit ourselves to good deeds, and brings us closer to divinity…lights illuminate every corner of India during Diwali and the scent of incense sticks hangs in the air mingled with the sound of melodious Bhajans, aroma of sweets, joy , togetherness and hope.

The Festival of Lights came alive when the school wore a festive look with diyas, candles, streamers and lanterns adorning the corridors and classes in bright colors.

The mantra for each child was to celebrate a Green Diwali. On 16th October, Class I students came dressed up in traditional attire and brought Diwali delicacies to enjoy a pre Diwali blast with their classmates. Students were told about the significance of the festival in the ‘circle time’. To further emphasize on it, class II did various activities to enjoy the festive season in real spirit. As a part of the Card Art Club, students made a beautiful Diwali Card for their parents. They decorated the card origami using glitter pens, coloured  stones and wrote a nice message on it.

A PowerPoint Presentation depicting the importance of the festival was thoroughly enjoyed by the students. They all chanted the Aarti ‘Om Jai Jagdish’ and ‘Om Jai Lakshmi Mata’. For a real flavour of the festival, the students were asked to bring Diwali delicacies in their lunch box. The aroma of the mouth – watering dishes filled the classrooms. The enthusiasm and happiness of the students knew no bounds as they shared their favourite dishes with their friends. They all had a wonderful time chit- chatting and tasting the sweets.

All in all, the festive mood rung high in the school with happy and joyous children admiring the decorations and promising to make this a ‘Green Diwali’ and lighting a candle of happiness among the less fortunate. Thus, everyone went home carrying the message of love, peace and joy symbolic with festival.
