Teacher Empowerment at LVISN

An interactive workshop on ‘Multiple Hats – Building a positive classroom culture’ was conducted by school counselors, Ms. Nikita and Ms. Pankhuri on 20 May, 2024 at Lotus Valley International School, Noida for teachers of grades I and II. With varied reflective activities, the emphasis was on dealing with the strategies to handle student behaviours such as inattention, temper tantrums, meltdowns, physical aggression, incompletion of tasks etc. The resource persons explained the importance of understanding the underlying causes of these behaviors, which can range from sensory processing issues and unmet needs to communication difficulties and environmental factors. The workshop provided an experiential journey and encouraged everyone to engage and share their own perspectives, reflections and thoughts in a creative and imaginative way. Establishing a consistent routine and using visual schedules to help students understand what to expect can significantly reduce the occurrence of tantrums. Teachers were advised to help the students to remain calm, validate the child’s feelings and connect with them. They suggested some alternative strategies for the future. The resource person emphasized on the whole school approach: building positive relationships with parents as equal stakeholders.
