From 27 May to 30 May 2024, 125 students of Grade X along with 13 teachers embarked on an exhilarating summer trip to the enchanting town of Dalhousie. Nestled amidst the majestic Dhauladhar mountains, Dalhousie, with its verdant deodar and pine forests and an elevation of 6,140 feet, stands as a timeless relic of the British Raj.
Leaving behind the scorching heat of Delhi, the journey began aboard the Vande Bharat Express, which whisked us to Pathankot. From there, we ascended to Dalhousie, where we were greeted by its colonial charm. After refreshing ourselves, we strolled along the historic Mall Road, soaking in the echoes of the past.
The following day, after a hearty breakfast, we embarked on a day-long adventure. Our first stop was the serene Panchpula waterfalls, followed by a visit to the lush meadows of Khajiar, often referred to as the "Mini Switzerland" of India. Here, students indulged in adventure activities like zorbing and horse riding, and enjoyed a nature trail through the picturesque landscape. The day concluded with a lively DJ night at the hotel, where our students danced with unbridled joy.
On the third day, we visited the Chamera Dam and Lake, part of the renowned Ravi River, and then explored the scenic Rock Garden. A sumptuous lunch at a nearby resort rejuvenated us for another evening on the Mall Road, where students eagerly shopped for souvenirs. The final evening at Dalhousie Heights was filled with music and dance, with even the teachers joining in the fun.
As the trip drew to a close on the fourth day, we checked out of our hotel and gathered for a closing ceremony where students were awarded interesting titles and badges, celebrating their curiosity and adventurous spirit. Late that night, we arrived back in New Delhi, filled with memories and experiences that bonded us closer together.
This trip to Dalhousie was a perfect blend of adventure, camaraderie, and learning, leaving our students with invaluable lessons in teamwork and friendship.
