Discovering Nordic Excellence: A Journey of Cultural Immersion and Sustainability 24 students, accompanied by 2 teachers and Vice Principal Ms. Jyoti Vats, recently embarked on a transformative journey to Finland. They participated in the Nordic Culture & Environment Base Camp - Finland Certificate Course from 25 May to 01 June 2024. This immersive 8-day programme offered a holistic experience focused on education, environment, and culture, promoting deep cultural exchange and learning opportunities. The group began their journey with an informative orientation session conducted by the Embassy of Finland in India, setting the tone for their exploration of Nordic excellence. Delving into the rich tapestry of Finnish culture, environment, and sustainability practices, the participants engaged in various activities and visits to renowned institutions. Their itinerary was filled with enriching experiences, including insightful visits to Hauho Comprehensive School, The Prison, Iittala Glass Factory and Museum, Tampere, Lyseo General Upper Secondary School, HAMK- Hame University of Applied Sciences, and Hame Castle. These visits provided valuable insights into Finnish education systems, environmental initiatives, historical landmarks, and cultural heritage. Beyond structured visits, students had the opportunity to engage in a diverse range of activities aimed at deepening their understanding of Finnish life. From hiking through picturesque landscapes to participating in traditional Finnish games like Mölkky and dodgeball, students actively immersed themselves in the local culture. Additionally, interactions with Finnish students, teachers, and community members enriched their experience, fostering meaningful connections and cross-cultural friendships. As the journey drew to a close, students gathered for a heartwarming farewell party at Iloranta, their abode during their stay, reflecting on the bonds formed and memories created during their time in Finland. The experience was a blend of mixed emotions, as farewells were exchanged amidst gratitude for the invaluable lessons learned and the profound impact of cultural immersion.
