Through Model UN, students develop skills that go beyond the classroom: negotiation, public speaking, and teamwork. It teaches them to see issues from multiple perspectives, fostering empathy and global citizenship. Twenty students from our school participated in the Zeste Model United Nations, hosted by Ryan International School in Mayur Vihar Phase-3, New Delhi, on May 16th and 17th, 2024. The students engaged in various committees, including the AIPPM, United Nations General Assembly, United Nations Security Council, United Nations Human Rights Council, World Foreign Exchange Committee, a special committee on the Charter of the United Nations (SCC), and crisis committees like the Syrian National Council. Additionally, they took part in the International Press, showcasing their skills in journalism, photography, and caricaturing.
Throughout the conference, delegates faced intense questioning and conducted extensive research aimed at devising sustainable solutions to global issues. Here’s the list of winners: Eashita Agarwal won Best Photographer (IP) and a cash prize; Aryan Arora received High Commendation (AIPPM); Satvik Mendiratta earned a Special Mention (UNHRC); and Samaira Grover received a Verbal Mention (AIPPM). Additionally, Hriday Singh Antal of Grade XI was invited as a Vice-Chair in the World Foreign Exchange Committee, and Nishka Gupta of Grade XII was invited as a Rapporteur in the United Nations Human Rights Council Committee.
It was a wonderful intellectual experience for our students and a display of their exceptional research, leadership, negotiation, and diplomatic skills to deliberate, defend, and deliver!
